All Lindstrom & King Co. packing parts, gasket rings, washers, etc. can be manufactured from any of the standard composite mixes listed below or from a custom mix to suit your specific end-use requirements.  This includes flat-end, domed and flanged, beveled, inverted-bevel, double-bevel and single-bevel packing. If you are interested in custom mixes Contact Us for further details.

L-K No. 35NAF–35HAF
A tetrafluorethylene (TFE) aramid fiber ring packing with a small amount of neoprene.  This material is suited for all plumbing valve, packing and washer needs from hot and cold water operations to up to 550° F.  The TFE provides continuous lubrication and a smooth, low-torque turning movement on the stem.  No. 35, while originally designed for the industrial bronze and iron valve industry, has become very popular in the household hot-and-cold water valve packing and faucet packing field.  It can also handle many acid and alkaline solutions.

L-K No. 52AF Plain

A polyethylene/cotton/graphite packing ring with a small amount of natural rubber binder.  This material is comparable to the more recently popular rubber-and duck style.  The polyethylene cotton combination provides durability and strength for assembly line operation.  The cotton fiber limits use to 250° F. No 52 adapts well to domed and flange-shaped packing rings where no fiber washer is required.  The graphite packing ring applications include most of the faucet, boiler drain, angle stop and sprinkler type valves.

L-K No. 31AF

A polyethylene/cotton/graphite packing ring with a small amount of natural rubber binder.  This material contains more polyethylene fiber and less cotton than No. 52 and can be used up to 300° F.  This strong, graphite/polyethylene material can be used for valves, with or without stuffing box, in the low pressure line.

L-K No. 6 + 10AF

A polyethylene/graphite/petrolatum/graphite packing ring with a small amount of natural rubber binder.  The addition of petrolatum as an internal lubricant makes this a softer packing which is used extensively in compression stops and plumbing service up to 220° F.

L-K No. 53AF

A polyethylene/cotton/graphite packing ring with more natural rubber content than No. 52AF Plain, this material is denser and tougher and therefore useful in rugged assembly-line operations.  This ring has otherwise similar characteristics and uses to No. 52 and can be used up to 250° F.

L-K No. 33NAF–33NAFG–33NAFGS

An aramid/graphite packing ring with a small amount of neoprene or hypalon binder,  this is a hard graphite die-formed ring style with three available levels of hardness, used for industrial-type valves up to 550° F.

Custom Manufacturing

For new requirements, please send a specification drawing and an actual sample of the valve, faucet, stem, etc. and also indicate the quantities to be ordered. Please do not forget to specify the service requirements.  Selection of the proper die size will be made upon receipt of this information with a cost estimate for the tooling and manufacturing in reply.* Once an order is placed, the die is formed in our own in-house tool and die operation and entered in our customer-die index system.  The dies are constantly maintained and replaced free of charge when necessary.  A sample lot of 25 parts would be manufactured at no charge for approval.
